Well May has been an interesting month, hail, wind, torrential rain and pubs and hospitality able to start welcoming customers back outside to begin with but now back in there establishments.
The industry needed this weekend to be glorious, so they can start to recoup and get back on there feet. For many this has been an incredibly tough time, and it is wonderful to see those of you who have made it through, back serving and welcoming customers.
Sunshine can change everyone’s view of life for the better. I think we all needed to feel the warmth of the sun and hear the chatter of customers. But how are you fairing, have you managed to keep staff? Have they been furloughed? Do you have enough staff to support the need? There have been reports that staffing for pubs and hospitality is a real issue? Kate Nicholls Chief Executive of UK Hospitality has reported that about 80% of members are struggling to recruit. This is due to the uncertainty of the 21 June.
Will you be able to support the needs of your customers in the coming months, have you been able to recruit new staff or bring back old. The continued uncertainty of this situation and the pandemic continues, but I think that for a few days whilst the sun is shining and the world feels a little more normal we should enjoy and sit back and welcome our customers new and old to a very different but nearly normal industry.
