Catthorpe is a charming village and civil parish in the Harborough district of Leicestershire. It is located beside the River Avon and close to the A5 and is bordered by Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Warwickshire; Rugby is the closest large town and is just 4 miles to the southwest.
Catthorpe gives its name to the nearby Catthorpe Interchange road junction formed by the M1 and M6 motorways and the A14 road. Transport links are superb.
There is this delightful village pub and farm shop and restaurant, both are located on Main Street.
Red Brick construction under a tiled roof, this lovely looking building has the charming diagonal leaded windows and sits perfectly situated on the Main Street running through the village.
Ground floor finds the Lounge Bar with wooden Bar and wonderful period open fireplace, complimented by the gorgeous tiled floor. From here the Beer Cellar is accessed, this is large and well fitted. The Restaurant/Dining Room is located to the left of the Lounge Bar and is a newer extension to the older building, it is well conceived and pleasantly decorated.
A decent sized Commercial Kitchen is well appointed and boasts Stainless Steel Counters, and Extraction as well as all the appliances you would expect in an historically busy Food and Drink location.
Ladies and Gents Cloakrooms are located along a wide corridor and are equally well appointed.
Located on Main Street The Cherry Tree boasts genuine kerbside appeal and is a delight to see, through the vehicle entrance to the left leads to the Car Park with parking for circa 10 cars, then on to a lawned garden which is equal to the size of the Car Park.
There is a Station themed covered external seating area offering seating for circa 20+ to the rear and a brick built outbuilding currently used for storage.
To the First Floor we find a very spacious 3/4 Bedroom living accomodation, with bathroom and W/C.
In need of some modernisation, but essentially practical and homely.
This Business is no longer trading, it closed during the first Covid National Lockdown and never reopened. The same tenants had been there for many years, and had been paying £2,000 per month in rent.
The local feeling is that they welcome the idea of their pub returning and that it was well supported locally.
This community pub supports local league skittles, draughts and dominoes teams. and there is occasional live music and quizzes.
