Social distance eating is it here to stay…

Well the summer holidays are upon us and having spent 4 days in Norfolk, it is as though nothing has happened.. Except of course all those serving, pouring drinks and delivering food to the holiday makers are doing so with social distancing regulations.

All of the establishments from Pubs to restaurants that I visited over the last few days have been following social distancing not only for customers benefit but also that of there staff. However like all rules it cannot factor in rudeness, impatience and ignorance. All those establishments are and have put in new processes so they can provide a service to us and abide by the regulations. However sometimes we as customers seem to think that it is inconvenient.  I had hoped that the pandemic would have made us as a society re assess how we do things, slow down a little and appreciate those around us… seems that we have very short memories.

Over heard by a customer who was waiting to be greeted in a pub and then either be seated or order… ‘I have been waiting I need to be acknowledged’ it was very obvious that all the staff where working flat out and I have to say doing so with a smile in there eyes ( masks on) and as safely as possible.  Perhaps we need to realise that in the future patience is going to be a huge factor, if we want to eat out safely and happily.

I can only praise the staff, pubs and restaurants that have worked tirelessly to get the industry up and running again since the 4 July, whether in the country or town you have all found ways to keep your business functioning and used innovation to do that from Apps for ordering to quirky ways to deliver outside dinning and drinking.

Thank You to you all have a great Summer and stay calm and smile with those eyes…
