The cold has gone and the sun has come out a little bit more often. Snowdrops and crocus are pushing through the earth and the days are getting longer. Yesterday was shrove Tuesday and we head into Lent and towards Easter.
We are only 2 months into 2021 but it feels a lot longer, maybe the lighter evenings and brighter days will help. Also are we seeing the chances of the industry reopening and starting to have some semblance of normality. There is a lot of talk across the media, and from politicians of the country coming out of the coming lockdown.
The industry has worked incredibly hard to stay buoyant and to keep business going , we have seen how hard you have all worked, creating opportunities to stay solvent and sane. However I suspect that like all of us this is getting harder and harder. I am continually amazed at how you keep re inventing the wheel, Valentines and Mothering Sunday the next on the list.. will you be able to open up outside or is that going to be yet another headache.
Whatever happens in the coming weeks as an industry we need to stay strong, safe and positive.. you have achieved so much in the last year, work with your communities show them how important there pubs are for everyone’s survival.
